Reverse Marketing: How To Use Social Website Effectively

  • Sharebar

If you are a businessman in today’s world you know that social media websites can help you get more  attention  to  your products or services. The problem is that most businesses who use these social sites are only trying to SELL their product or services. Selling is the last thing you want to do if you want people to gain peoples confidence in your products. You want them to come to you willingly. Here are a few tips on how to use reverse marketing and social websites more effectively.

Make Friends

The first thing you need to do is actually make friends and build up a following on these websites. This takes time. Start by looking for people who share various interests with you. The key word here is variety. Let people get to know you on a personal level by sharing an interest in camping, stamp collecting, cooking, wines, whatever the case may be. In the course of getting to know one another it is all right to mention your business and even talk about it but do not try to sell anything.

Ask Questions and Supply Answers

Learn about people by asking genuine questions. Showing an interest in people will make them more aware of you. Whenever possible answer questions that will prove helpful to others not just about your business concern but about anything you feel qualified to talk about. The more helpful you prove to be on a variety of subjects the more likely people are to come to you when they need the product or service you offer.

Do Include Information about you business and a link to it in your profile

You will want to include a short blurb about your business and its link in your profile on these social websites so as you make friends people who want your services or products will have a way to contact you.

Post Interesting and Helpful articles on your site

When you come across an interesting article or site post it to your page and share it with others include articles both on the products you sell and on those that have no relationship to your business so your friends and others who view your page won’t feel as though you are simply trying to sell them your product or service.

Help Other businesses

When you make friends with other business owners who sell products or services different than yours and then run across someone seeking information on that product or service direct them towards your business acquaintance. When you send possible business their way they will be more likely to return the favor.

Using social websites as a means of reverse marketing takes time and energy but can really pay big dividends in the end. When you consider that every friend you make has friends, who have other friends, who have even more friends, you are getting your name and your product and services out there to literally thousands of people with spending one advertising dollar. On top of that you are proving yourself to be interesting, helpful, and well rounded. People wanting to buy your product and services come to you simply because you are not trying to sell to them.

Teaching Social Media techniques for some some time now, one of the biggest and most common mistakes we see in social media is people trying to sell, or having their page just about them.

Mix it up a little, if people don’t participate or reply on your comments or questions, don’t be offended or discouraged, some will – some won’t.

It takes time to have a loyal list of followers. Its not just about how many friends you have, it’s about quality as well.

    Another great post Duncan.

I see this the most on Trulia Voices. People ask questions and the answers can be so asinine. Or it typically goes under the headline of “contact me or your Realtor and I/they can help…”

    JUST ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION.

Answer enough and you build a following.
