I agree! Hype and flash is NOT "impressive to viewers.
People have been "burned," so many times by hyped copy that promises - yet never delivers, that they look upon such with disgust and disdain.

Give readers what they really want - and they will come. Clear, concise, relevant content, which puts
reader interest first, is what the info seekers want.

Hype is DEAD, and thank God..how such garbage lasted this long is beyond me. People want real, complete answers to their queries. Not tail-chasing
content which promises the moon, and then doesn't deliver.

Enough already!

You can use a FaceBook Fan Page as a great squeeze page! See http://seo-alien.com/how-to-videos/how-to-add-an-email-capture-form-to-a-facebook-fan-page/

Maybe then we will just hurt Facebooks PageRank :)

Duncan you hit the nail on the head by singling out credibility. Really too many internet marketers go for the shock and awe and have some egotistical notion that if they make the squeeze page they will come, submit, and be fully on board.

There's a degree of laziness in most marketers that is behind the the decision to go with a squeeze page over a proper landing page. There's all the creative avenues in the world to opt out of the whole squeeze page scene, but be damned if this is apparent in their line of thought. Landing pages take a whole heck of a lot of time and strategy, where as squeeze pages have adopted a fairly common copy formula that distills synergy into a flat single page pitch.

As far as the directed page after the squeeze page goes my thoughts are that if you place a no index tag on your squeeze page and link it back to your site you're in the clear. the linking detriment occurs when your page(s) link out to bad pages/sites. If the squeeze page links into your site, i don't think google is going to hold it guilty by association because then anybody could set up a site with 100 or even 1000s of indexable squeeze pages and sandbag sites at will.

Good question. Conclusive testing has not been completed yet. It MAY, it may not. I would strongly suggest you have links to your main site under your squeeze page to show that there is actually valuable content behind the squeeze page.

After prospect opt-in to the squeeze pages, the site bring you to the main website page. Does google slap you website as well or just the squeeze page?

I agree and disagree.
Video Squeeze Pages do work, I have evidence that they work really well.
Video Squeeze Page plus lots of Craigslist ads work great in Some Markets.
I have tried squeeze pages in some markets and they just bomb but in others they
just rock. My experience is Big cities suck but smaller towns still seem to be okay with squeeze pages.
Some of my information blogs work really well for getting leads and others just suck.
If you are good at presenting information in a manner that resonates with the reader you stand a good chance that you will get an optin.

HI Darren,
I am not in the real estate business, I have not found squeeze pages effective for me either. Yet, everyone seems to think they are the be all and end all. Yes, Google is doing more slapping, and they should. Who wants to see garbage all over your library. It's too bad that Google didn't begin this process sooner.

Thank you,
I agree about squeeze pages, I am tired of seeing them too!

Dorn
You have the right to disagree. I have supplied evidence to the contrary from Google. Spend some time in the Google Adwords Group. Read and Educate - Google Slaps Squeeze pages with HIGH Priced keyword bids. They also will not rank in SEO. The purpose of my commentary is that some real estate gurus think that the SQZ pages are going to bring you more leads than a website with call to actions.

In real estate investing, CREDIBILITY is everything first. People who have concerns with their houses, are not going to submit their house information into a squeeze page without some sort of credibility check first. Real Estate marketing is different. So, All Realtors now are supposed to have Sqz pages before you can view their selection of houses? Are private money lenders just going to fill in a form to give you money, BEFORE they know what you do .. Be real ..

Odd that you don't use a Squeeze Page yourself on your domain. You are using a website with call to actions ??

I totally disagree that squeeze pages are bad pages. I totally disagree that they are doomed. It is in the essence of how you use them that is the key. For targeted traffic from PPC or Facebook ads, not a SEO stand point, they work and work well when done correctly.

If you want more build a blog offer good content and SEO it. Anyone who tells you to SEO a squeeze page is a clueless nitwit.

and squeeze pages aren't unappealing to readers badly done squeeze pages are unappealing to readers. again it is all in how you build and use a squeeze page.
